O’ahu is an island in the state of Hawaii, with Honolulu as its capital. It’s home to many famous landmarks, including Pearl Harbor, Waikīkī Beach, and North Shore’s world-renowned surf spot, Pipeline. O’ahu, which translates to ‘the gathering place,’ reflects its role throughout history as a central meeting point for the Hawaiian people, known for both its natural beauty and as a place where communities would come together for cultural and ceremonial events.

Pipeline, also known as Banzai Pipeline, is a world-renowned surf break located on the North Shore of O’ahu. Famous for its powerful, barreling waves that break over a shallow reef, it is considered one of the most iconic and challenging surf spots in the world. During the winter months, massive swells create perfect tubes that attract skilled surfers from around the globe. The combination of the waves’ beauty and danger makes Pipeline a must-visit destination for both surfers and spectators alike.

Legendary surfers like Kelly Slater, John John Florence, and Gerry Lopez have taken on these 9- to 20-foot waves in prestigious surf competitions like the Pipe Masters and the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.

Pipeline is located on the North Shore, but once you've captured the surfers, be sure to turn your lens around and take in the surroundings. Explore the various beaches along the North Shore, such as Waimea Bay and Waimanalo, and capture the stunning ocean, hills, and palm trees that create a picturesque scene. Waimea Bay offers unique cliff-jumping opportunities, while Waimanalo welcomes you with its well-known white coral sand and less crowded beach.

The Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden spans 400 acres of lush landscapes, nestled at the foot of the stunning Koʻolau Mountain Range. Known for its diverse collection of tropical and subtropical plants, the garden offers visitors a peaceful retreat.

In addition to the vibrant landscape, the garden features numerous hiking trails, where you can spot various bird species and take in breathtaking views of the mountains and lush greenery. Be sure to check out Kualoa Ranch, just down the road from the garden. In ancient times, it was considered one of the most sacred places on Oʻahu. It is still home to an 800-year-old fishpond, a testament to its ancient history.
